It was a perfect awe inspiring moment when I was invited as it was not just a launch party of any eatery but for a contemporary place- Lagom kitchen & brewery. Inspired by streets of Scotland, this Gurgaon’s newest watering hole offers internationally popular concept of food, music and ambience in a pleasing mirror reflected venue. This is the newest hub that can give a rugged competition to other micro breweries in the town. Located in the hushed corner of the ground floor of JMD Megapolis Mall at Sohna Road, Gurgaon far away from daily hustle, where you’ll get trouble free parking.
As per their award winning brew master Ishan Grover, Lagom’s Brewery is of German standards where they use world’s finest raw material to produce their craft beer.
Ambience: Entire eatery is divided in 4 section, outdoor and extreme inner level of small dinning are smokers zone, have centralized seating attached with the bar with choicest alcohol and fresh beer, spacious enough to accommodate more than 8 people. At the entry, you can apprehend the entire concept of soft themed ambience where one section flaunts sheer presentation of live brewing and display of cigars. An ultimate choice for formal meetings or social get together while enjoying soothing music accompanied with live bands. As I hardly associated anyone before in the crowd of food bloggers except the host, so till the time being I tried to capture their alcohol segment with the cheery giggles in the background. Combination of non traditional lights and unique designed open interiors makes the ambience light and positive.
Food: By keeping launch in the mind they curate menu based on the principal of small bites with thirst quenching beverages. Among the menu of the day I’ve given a try to:
**Spinach and Leeks Dimsums– I was not aware about the spinach dimsums earlier, that were not only healthy but this mouth dissolving delicacy outshined the complete menu. Outer crust was amazingly thin that was wrapping up the bundle of fine chopped spinach without any pinch of usual bitterness of spinach. While **Mushroom and Pepper oyster dimsums, **Chicken and chives dimsums (very basic), ** Fish Shumai dimsums from non vegetarian section could not satisfy my palette, their filling was so basic that can easily be skipped.
Among the two options available for pizza, **Chicken Tikka Pizza and **Mexican Veg. Pizza topped with bell pepper, tomato, mushroom and cheese. Go for non-vegetarian one. On the next go I would like to recommend delectable succulent **Smoked Chilli Chicken where I could sense the bursting flavours of thick smoked chilli pieces in the properly cooked chicken, amalgamation of both were too good. Though **Chilli Chicken Garlic could raise the bar of it by adding pinch of extra chilli.
I relished the flavours of fine and delicate curry leaves and coconut in **Curry Leaf Fish. Moreover, **Khumbawe Ki Seekh might not be the best option as it let your taste buds dry. Beside in the tasting session they had **Thai Veg. Green curry with rice, **Thai Chicken red curry; for veg. Lovers **Veg. Biryani with veg. Korma, I opted for **Khowsuey veg. option that was served with crispy thick noodles with red sauce and vegetables, quite dissimilar experience.
Until moving to the main course that was served in a buffet I hardly left with the appetite for, wherein average cooked Daal makhani and Chicken Rara Gosht couldn’t make the justice with the menu, while meat was tender and soft in **Mutton Kohlapuri. Strongly aromatic **Veg.Lasagne had the flavours of Oregano and Peppercorn, its creamy texture included chopped Zucchini and Broccoli.
I end up my meal with **Saffron Phirni, Chocolate Mousse (that was too chocolaty) and fundamental **Tiramisu.
Though menu had variations but their drinks and cocktail options overruled my utter food affair. Lacom served with 3 alternatives of beer- **Simply Wheat-unique alloy of fresh orange and German wheat (totally citrus punch), **Fantastic Lager with Malt flavour and **Dark Knight-Dark beer, blend of special German roasted Chocolate malt. I’ll favour Fantastic Lager and for **Guava Merry (mingled guava juice, mint syrup, mint leaves, Tabasco sauce and vodka) can leave anyone on high note, speechless.
Service: Ranging from servers to bartenders to manager all are very courteous and knowledgeable about their mouth watering offerings. Staff members are polite and innovative.
Overall you can enjoy your evening by clashing your beer mugs with your buddies while enjoying good floating music in the air. For friendly ambience, fresh taste beers and reputed service anyone can opt Lagom.
